The Monument to Heroes Fallen in the Afghanistan War in Filipeni, Leova District, is dedicated to the memory of local soldiers who lost their lives in the Afghanistan War (1979-1989). It honors the sacrifice of the heroes Victor Țătaru (1962-1981), Nicolai Boiștean (1965-1984) and Vladimir Banu (1964-1983), young men who fell in the line of duty during the conflict. The monument is composed of three busts, made of bronze and placed on marble plinths, and is accompanied by an inscription praising their courage and sacrifice: "Your military valor will always be an example to the younger generation. You are alive in our memory!" The monument is a place of commemoration and gratitude by the community, kept alive in the memory and respect of present and future generations.
